The clans have forgotten Starclan—and Starclan, in turn, has fallen. The ancient souls have begun to disappear, and those who remain have dispersed to the depths of the skies. As Soulflight, a young warrior (when killed) struggles to keep the clans together, he realizes he cannot do this alone. As a bloody war breaks out over the no longer existent borderlines, he sets out to find one in the mortal world who can help—beyond the Black Forest, to the Place of No Stars.
