The moon was shining down onto a dark ground, casting a ghostly light. It was ShadowClan territory. And in the heart of it, a group of cats were sleeping in their dens. One of them, a tortoiseshell female, abruptly woke up from her dreams. But she did not wake up for lack of sleep, but because and excruciating pain had just taken a hold of her. She whimpered weakly, and nobody heard. She managed to stand, her paws trembling and the pain lingering. She knew it was time.
She headed to the Medicine Cat's Den, staggering because of the returning contractions. And her belly had recently become a burden too. It seemed to take forever to reach the den, and once she arrived, she barely made it in when she couldn't stand anymore and she collapsed with a loud whimper. "Beechflight..." she called out weakly. Eclipsesong had never felt so much pain.

Beechflight suddenly woke at the sound of her name being called. She made out the shadow of Eclipsesong. She looked like she was in a lot of pain. Beechflight quickly got up, seeing that Eclipsesong was probably having her kits. "What is it Eclipsesong? Are you in pain? The kits might be coming if you are." Beechflight was excited at the thought of bringing new life into the Clan.

Eclipsesong could hear Beechflights excitement, but she was in too much much pain to complain. "I think I'm having the kits," she gasped. Then she lowered her head to the ground, as it was aching and dizzy. She was never having any kits after this.

Blackhole awoke in the warriors den and realised that Eclipsesong wasn't there. A surge of panice surged through him and he got up and raced to the medicine cats den, not caring who he woke up.
When he go there he found her gasping for breathe with a excited yet anxious Beechflight beside. He hurried to her side and pressed up to comfort her.

Beechflight saw Blackhole suddenly enter the den, worried about Eclipsesong. The light brown tabby turned to Blackhole and told him," Go get her some fresh moss from the back of my den. She will need it. Hurry." She waited for him to get the moss so Eclipsesong could lay down and give birth to the kits.

Blackhole, still stunned, hurried to the back of Beechflights den and gathered up a comfy looking bunch of moss. He hurried to her side and dropped it down beside her.

Beechflight watched as Blackhole went and got come moss for his mate. "Good. Now Eclipsesong, lay down in the moss and we will get you started." The light brown tabby was hoping her apprentice would wake up soon so she could help. They would probably need her help.

Eclipsesong felt her mate arrive besides her, and she felt better because of it. Then she felt a bunch of moss land besides her, and she vaguely heard Beechflight's instructions. She opened her eyes and looked at the moss. She would never be able to do get on with this pain. But she hauled herself up a little and rolled over to land on the moss with a light thump. That hurt her side and she let out a low meow of pain that hurt her pride, as she hated showing pain. But this was one thing that she knew was acceptable to show pain for now. It hurt like bloody hell.

Duskstar stirred. His trained ears picking up a meow of pain in the night. The large dark-tabby tom rose. He slinked his way through the den and blended into the shadows. Someone was in pain.

Frostpaw heard tons of meowing going on around her. What on earth is going on?? She tiredly opened her eyes and looked around. Taking in the scene, she jumped into the air with shock. "Great StarClan!" she ran over to the gathered cats, "Is there anything I can do to help?" she asked, looking worriedly over to Eclipsesong.

Beechflight heard her apprentice rise and ask if there was anything she could do to help.The light brown tabby she-cat turned to Frostpaw and meowed, "Yes, go get some more moss and soak it in water. Blackhole, go get some more plain moss." Beechflight was hoping that this birth would go well.

Blackhole looked stricken at the way the medicine cats were. They rrally looked worried. He hoped to starclan that it would go well. Hurriedly he raced out and got some fresh moss. Putting it at Beechflights feet before turing back to Eclipsesong

Watching with amusement, Duskstar saw Blackhole run forward and backward in his eagerness to help his mate. Stepping out of the shadows, Duskstar sat silently, staring onward.

Beechflight pushed the new moss that Blackhole brought next to Eclipsesong. "Ok, now Blackhole, go wait outside. You would be in the way if you didn't leave now. We might need you later though. I will call if we do." OOC: its one of those days for me too.  |

Blackhole took one last look at Eclipsesong before hurring out of the den. He saw Duskstar smiling to himself in the distance

Eclipsesong saw as her mate left, and it almost made her feel better because it meant that one less cat had to see her like this. But then she could scent Duskstar, and she hoped that he couldn't really see inside the Medicine Cat's Den. Her eyes flickered over to Beechflight and although she didn't say anything, her eyes were basically shouting out, "When?!"

Beechflight saw the pain in Eclipsesong's eyes. She knew it was 'now' time to start. "Ok, Eclipsesong, when I say now push with all your strength." The light brown tabby put her paw on Eclipsesong's belly. She felt a contraction and meowed loudly, "NOW!"

Frostpaw rushed out of the medicine cat's den to get some wet moss. Once she got a got amount of it she rushed back into the den and placed it next to the dry moss.
"Don't worry, everything will be fine," she said comfortingly to Eclipsesong. She stepped back so as not to put the queen under pressure while she was about to give birth.
Frostpaw was really excited. They were going to have some new kits in ShadowClan! She was eager to know what they'd look like. She felt tension in the air and watched from a distance everything that was going on.

The pressure built up as Beechflight instructed her on what to do. She began to breathe deeply and slowly, waiting for the medicine cat's instruction. And then she said now.
Eclipsesong pushed with all her might, knowing that it should be over soon. She endured the pain silently, relieved at last when some of the pain was released. She turned her head to look at the first bundle, which was wet. Then she weakly laid her head back down and pushed again. This one was much quicker and less painful. She let go off her muscles to let them relax for a moment, but she then raised her head to look at her new kits. From the looks of it, one was a tortoiseshell and one was dark gray, and they were both female. She offered a slight purr.

Blackhole heard the commotion inside but it wasn't until he heard a slight purr he realised he had been holding his breath and then he entered.
On the floor next to Eclipsesong were tow soft bundles. He purred with joy!

Frostpaw held her breath as Eclipsesong pushed the kits out. Once all the action was over, Frostpaw approached the scene.
"They're beautiful..." she realized she would never have kits or a mate, but being a medicine cat was what she wanted.

Beechflight watched as Eclipsesong pushed with all her might and had the kits. They were adorable. Then she remembered that she had to check them instead of gawking. "Frostpaw, lick the fur the wrong way on the gray female, I'll work on the tortoiseshell." A medicine cat had to do this to new born kits to warm them up, so they would fail their new life. Beechflight put the kits next to their mother so they could drink her milk. She then layed down next to the tortoiseshell and began licking the fur the wrong way.

Eclipsesong gave Blackhole a warm gaze as he walked in. She was truly glad that was over. Although she might be sore for a while. Then she looked as Beechflight pushed the two little bundles to her side, were they frantically searched for milk. The tortoiseshell queen just stared at them in amazement. She had never really been around kits; they always seemed to get under her paws so she just stayed away from them. But seeing these two, who were hers to raise and teach- well, it gave her a content feeling. Something that she never would have thought she would feel towards kits. With Beechflight and Frostpaw taking care of the kits, she laid her head back down, thinking about possible names. It was then that they occurred to her. The dark gray with black paws would be Emberkit, after her father. The tortoiseshell would be Lightkit, signifying the new light they both brought into her world. She closed her eyes and rested, a deep purr rumbling in her chest.

When Blackhole first walked in the first thing he did was make sure that everyone was safe and alive. He couldn't help feeling negitave as being outside he'd had no insight of the goings on. When he finnally realised that Eclipsesong was ok he shifted his gaze to the two bundles of fluff nezt to her. Elated he walked over to Eclipsesong and nuzzled her fur.
