Cloudy Days (Open)

Cloud was truly a white ball of puff floating through River's territory. It was almost comical, in fact, it was hard not to laugh at this strange thing that appeared to be a cloud that had fallen to earth. As he swam across a river and officially along the border, one would have thought there was a piece of ice being swept along in the river; only fluffier. "Hello?" He gurgled through a mouthful of goldenrod. It came out distorted, like "Mrellko?" and the water didn't help much. Upon arriving at a stone in the center of the river, the tom flopped down upon it's smooth top and set his herbs down. "Hello?" He curled up and watched the the other side of the river for anything cat-related.

'Who are you and what are you doing in my Clans territory?' The authoritive voice came cracking out like a whip from the other side of the river. The source of the voice was a tall, strong looking she-cat, one who had power and knew exactly what to do with it. Stepping out, she walked until the water was lapping sedately against her paws. She wanted an answer, and she wanted one soon. It was not normal for Riverclan cats to be this haughty, but this was Ebonstar, and no one really knew how she worked.

the moment he heard a voice, he mroewed loudly and jumped in surprise. Jumped right off the rock, leaving his herbs. He sputtered back to them and faced the black she-cat. "Sorry, Miss Skizzer-er um, yeah!" His words ran together to the point one could hardly tell one from another untill he calmed down some and spoke. Nugding his herbs closer to him, he spoke again. "I wanna join Riverclan as a medicine cat apprentice?" He hoped he'd said the right words, but in case he didn't, he continued. "I left my family to join a clan I heard was called Riverclan. I don't fight all that well, and I even brought some goldenrod for you all." His eyes grew huge as he looked up at the black cat. "Are you the leader?" He asked in awe.

A black and white paw flashed into the water, metal-like claws sinking into the tender flesh of a fish that wandered too close to the river's edge. Pumahunt drew his prey out of the water and laid it besides him. While he buried it under a mound of leaves, something white caught his attention. He turned towards it, and he saw what looked like a white cat standing upon a rock in the river. He headed upstream towards the stranger cat, both wary and curious. Once he approached, he could hear the young tom talking in a rush, his words slurring. He wanted to join RiverClan as the Medicine Cat apprentice, but what bothered Pumahunt was who he was talking too. He turned to the direction the tom was turned and was surprised to see his leader, Ebonstar, standing in the shallow water. Assuming it was alright to show himself, the black and white Maine coon padded out into the open, nodding in greeting to the black she-cat. He prepared himself for her orders if there were any, watching her and the white tom at the same time.

Nodding an absent greeting to Pumahunt, the new Riverclan warrior, as he approached, Ebonstar pondered the white ball of fur in the middle of the river. 'Yes, I am the leader. Bring yourself and your goldenrod over here so I can get a good look at you. we don't want you freezing to death now do we?' There was slight humor in her voice, warping its melodius tune into something slightly evil, though it was unintentional. Waiting for Cloud to swim over, she motioned for Pumahunt to join her as she moved to dry ground and sat, curling her ebony tail around equally dark paws.

He'd almost had a heart attack when she spoke. She was terrifying! He picked up his herbs carefully and struck out for the other shore, again a cloud of fluff floating around helplessly in the water. His fur kept tanling his legs and dragging him down and when he emerged on the other side, he could hardly stand straight up for the weight of his fur. It came over his ears and covered his eyes, but he could barely see through it and that was good enough. He sensed another cat there and sat down, being pulled to the side as wind blew through his dripping fur.

Ebonstar watched as the young cat struggled through the frigid waters of the river. 'He can swim. . . thats a good start' she murmured as he aproached. Looking him over, she spoke loud enough for both cats with her to hear. 'It looks like we're going to have to teach you how to carry the weight of your fur, especially when wet. I can't promise you a position as Medicine Cat Apprentice, but I can take you in and let Skyfeather take a look at you.' motioning with her tail for them to follow, the she-cat got up and padded into the reeds that lead the way back to camp. If one was close enough, one could hear faint singing coming from the leaders lips, 'Nobody likes you, everyone left you, they're all out without you, having fun. . .'

Pumahunt padded over to stand near Ebonstar after she walked out of the water. He watched the white tom struggle with his fur, and almost purred in amusement. But it was like his leader said, a start. He was glad that he knew how to do it, otherwise his somewhat long fur would bother him too. The black and white tom began to follow the black she-cat back to camp, bringing up the rear. When they passed the spot where he left his fish, he rushed over to grab it. He had to run to catch back up, but he didn't want to miss this, so it didn't bother him.
