A dark tortoiseshell she-cat exited the Nursery, closely followed by her two kits. It was a pleasant day outside, so Eclipsesong had decided to take her two still young, but growing kits out to the clearing. She sat down just outside and swished her tail at Lightkit and Emberkit, telling them that they could play. She sat neatly, with her tail over her paws, and began to groom herself, one eye focused on her task and another on her kits.
Emberkit followed her mother ahead of her sister. She looked around at the clearing that she was so fascinated by. The dark gray she-kit sat near her mother, watching the warriors and apprentices go about their business. She thought about going over to the apprentices and asking them to teach her some hunting moves, but they looked really busy so she decided to ask another time. She knew she could watch this activity in the camp for a very long time; and she could learn a lot from it too. She was a lot like her mother.

Lowering herself into a crouch, Lightkit stalked silently out of the den after her sister, waiting for the perfect moment to strike. With a yowl of 'I've got you now, intruder!' she flung herself on top of Emberkit, hopefully taking her by suprise.

Emberkit knew her sister would try something like this. It was just written all over her. While the dark gray she-kit stumbled, she tried to turn to face her sister while falling. She batted at her Lightkit's ears annoyingly while growling, "Get off!" She was willing to play now however, which was rare as she normally observed. Finally wriggling out from under the tortoiseshell, Emberkit stepped back a little to look at her sister, anticipating her next move.
Eclipsesong was glad that Emberkit had decided to play today. It was normal for a kit to play. Although she herself was much like her when she was in the Nursery too. But she knew they would be fine. So she laid down and watched them play.

Blackhole saw Eclipsesong in the centre of the clearing, surrounded by their kits. Slinking out of the shadows into the sunlight he walked up to her and meowed ""hello stranger" before settling down beside her and twining his tail with hers. It would have been hard work being in the nusery all day. "why dont you come out on a patrol with me today?"

Eclipsesong was glad to see her mate. They weren't by themselves a lot anymore because of the kits. "Stranger?" she purred at his sarcasm. But she brushed muzzles with him either way. "I would love to, but with who do I leave the kits? Emberkit would be fine, but Lightkit is bound to get into some trouble." She really did miss going on patrols. In a way she was looking forward to have her kits become apprentices and for her to be able to move back to the warrior's den.

'No fair, you know I hate that!' Lightkit yowled as her sister whacked her ears. In returen, the tortishell jumped at Emberkit, but was jerked to a stop when she fell to the ground having stood on her own tail. 'Ahh!!' She mock cried as she reached up to flick the other kit's nose.

The gray she-kit chuckled as her sister stepped on her own tail. But she jumped back as Lightkit headed for her nose, just barely making it. She snarled with her gleaming white fangs and then puffed her fur out more than the normal, which was already really fluffy. So now Emberkit looked a lot bigger. Then, she plunged into her sister, causing them both to stumble to the floor.

Blackhole smiled at the concerned mate. "It's ok," he meowed, "we'll find someone." He settled down beside her and followed her eyes to the two wretling kits. "They'll probably be able to beat us soon"

Lightkit fell to the ground under Emberkit, the air rushing out of her small lungs in a whoof. 'Gerrof me!' she yelled, voice muffled by her sisters fur. You're squishing me! Lightkit hoped the other kit would fall into her trap. . .
>ooc: Lightkit's getting very dramatic now haha<

Emberkit analyzed the situation just like she analyzed everything else. All the possibilities were endless. She knew her weight wasn't that great to really hurt her sister. But it wasn't too interesting when it looked like she had won so easily and quickly. So she batted her sister on nose before jumping off and while lashing her tail, she watched her sister, preparing for the next move.

As soon as Emberkit jumped off, Lightkit flung herself upwards, towards her sisters legs. She succeeded in knocking her over and promptly sat on her. 'Ha! I win!' She crowed happily as she flicked her tail, tickling the other kit's ears.

Being brought down to the floor by her sister was not pleasant. There was now dust and dirt in her fur, plus, the ground was chilly. Lightkit's tail flicking her ear wasn't helping either. A deep growl erupted from Emberkit's jaws, and she lunged at her sister's tail while still under her. She bit down on it, intending for it to hurt somewhat. Just enough for her sister to be distracted. Once her sister was aware of what happened, the gray and black kit wriggled out from under her sister. It felt good to be away from the ground and not being squished. Emberkit purred cynically to herself in the satisfaction of escaping her sister's almost sure victory. But she didn't stand there rejoicing for long. She leaped onto a rock close by and looked down at her sister. There was no way for Lightkit to reach her now without her seeing everything and having the advantage of being higher, therefore making it easy to evade an attack.

'Ow!' Lightkit yelped as her sister bit down on her tail. She had guessed her sister would try something like this, and was not dissappointed. She watched as Emberkit jumped onto the rock after using the distraction to escape and sighed. She knew she would have a hard time beating the other kit now. Glancing around for something that could help, she spotted a small ball of moss, obviously broken away from a nest and knocked out here. The tortishell kit peeked sneakily at her sister and slowly sidled towards it, hoping she wouldn't notice. When she reached it, she gave a loud Mrrrow of effort and whaked it towards her sister, hitting her in the chest. Using the distraction, she darted over and jumped on the rock as well, and shoved her sister lightly with her nose.

Emberkit was caught off guard as Lightkit threw the ball of moss at her, making her step back in surprise. One of her back legs slipped off the edge because she retreated so much, but she managed to bring it back onto the surface. But by then it was too late. Lightkit had jumped on the rock besides her. Just as she was about to push her sister off, the dark gray kitten felt a nose lightly shove her backwards. This was another unexpected surprise. Again she was going backwards, but this time, both her legs slipped off the rock and since the surface was smooth, her claws weren't able to hold her. She was falling off. But she could at least do some damage. She reached her right paw out swiftly and pulled Lightkit's front paws. She had made sure to make it hard, so Lightkit would fall with her. It was a delightful ideology. To bring down your enemies with you.

The tortishell kit squealed in surprise as her sister brought her tumbling down with her. She landed on top of Emberkit, and after struggling a bit, managed to pin her down, placing one paw on either side of her head. 'Ha! I win! . . . Again!' She crowed with delight, and a faint sense of deja vu came to her. She made sure to keep her tail far away from her sisters mouth this time, so her last unceremonious dumping would not be repeated.

After yet another struggle on the ground, Emberkit was pinned down by her sister again. She couldn't help but feel some humiliation, although she knew that she wasn't the greatest fighter. She thought hunting would be her thing. So she gave one irritated sigh before responding defiantly. She could still keep some honor by being a good loser. "Fine. In fighting, you beat me. But in hunting, I am better!" She meowed the last few words with an excited thrill in her voice. She couldn't wait to be apprenticed, but they still had a few more moons to go. Using her tail, she flicked it at her sister's nose, signaling Lightkit to get off of her.

Jumping off her sister, Lightkit nodded. 'Yeah, you are. I'm gonna make a sucky hunter' She frowned, a wrinkle marring her forehead. 'I'm going to practice though! I'm gonna be as good as you someday!' She hoped she would get a mentor who was really good at hunting so they could teach her everything they know. Emberkit and herself were getting older now, and soon would be apprenticed. She couldn't wait!
