Nothing but frost and snow. Everywhere. The tabby she-cat hated it. But at least the snow had seized falling, for the night hopefully. The sun was half set, and the moon was rising as well. From the ThunderClan camp, you could only look up and see the sky streaked with pink, but otherwise, twilight had fallen. Today ThunderClan would prove that they were still strong; for this particular twilight, the Apprentice's Den's occupants would have doubled and a new warrior would be keeping vigil during the freezing night. The thought gave Leafstar pride, and she rumbled a purr from the depths of her chest. For not was she only proud of the young cats in her Clan, but her only son, Dragonpaw, would become a warrior. She closed her eyes in contentment, ignoring the freezing wind that stung her face for a moment.
The ThunderClan leader leaped onto the Thunder Rock's frosty surface, just like she had done many times before. Her paw pads seemed to object to her being on the rock, but she kept her focus. The Clan meeting. "Would all cats old enough to catch their own prey gather beneath the Thunder Rock," she called out to her Clan. She had already told the cats- Dragonpaw, Darkpaw, Mothpaw, Silverkit, and Wildkit- that they all needed to be at the camp by dusk. She also had all the mentors picked out, and she had seen that none of them found themselves on an evening patrol, just to be sure they were present.
Refusing to sit, Leafstar only had one option left- to wait in the freezing cold. But she was a warrior. A ThunderClan warrior, no- The ThunderClan leader. She could bear it.

Dawnsghost padded into camp with his meagre offerings, a small shrew and a squirrel. It wasn't much, but anything would help the ThunderClan cats. As he pushed his way through the gorse tunnel, he heard his leaders sharp meow, calling a Clan meeting. The tom hoped he wouldn't get in trouble for going off alone, but he needed some time to clear his head. Dropping his meagre catch on the small fresh-kill pile, he quickly went into the nursery, rousing Silverkit and Wildkit with a hushed voice and bringing them out into the clearing, as Hawkswing wouldn't be able to in her condition. Bidding them to follow with a flick of his long tail, he trotted over and sat in front of his leader, clearing a spot for them to sit with one well-placed swipe of his tail. Looking up at his leader, he wondered why she had called the meeting, and hoped that it included his kits becoming apprentices.

The kinless apprentice had been sitting, shivering outside the apprentice den. His eyes wild with excitement. Leafstar had told him he needed to be here for this specific time. And he was excited as anything. Perhaps he would get a mentor? Perhaps he would not... if so then why would he need to come? Had he done something wrong? Was he going to lose his home, again!? Panic rose in the young cats breast. He was to become a warrior, and he was not afraid to kill, nor to hunt nor defend his clan. But failure... that was what he feared the most. Failure was unacceptable. The young cat shivered. There were dire consequences to not being the best or the most in his old "clan". He knew their way wasn't the most efficient, and he knew it was definitely not the right way, but it was the way he would be taught. And some one would have to un-teach it to him. The apprentice shook his ears nervously. Why would they kick him out? He hand't done anything. Thunderclan was better than that.
He padded through the snow and sat just so, so he could see the leaders face. Despite all his anxiety he was still very excited, and it was progressively becoming harder to contain it. Even the cold winter winds weren't a bother to him then. He couldn't feel them. He looked up to Leopardstar. He would give his life for his clan, and he hoped she knew that. This kit was serious. Though his eyes sparkled with kit-like joy. He had found it hard to make friends in this new clan (because many were skeptical of his heritage) but he was slowly making his place. He familiarized himself with the other apprentices; Dragonpaw (who was older than Darkpaw and, he suspected, due to become a warrior any day now) and Mothpaw... starclan he hoped she wouldn't become a warrior. He needed SOME one. But, then again, there were the two kits. They were six moons now, no doubt they were to become apprentices.
He straightened his fur, making himself look presentable. If he should get a warrior today, he wouldn't want them to think he was a slob. He licked his chest straight, and his back and tail, and even did his ears. He had seen mothers dote over their kits and apprentices before ceremonies, grooming them to near death. His mother wouldn't care. He forced his bitterness down again, that life was over for him. He shook himself out, making his fur fluff out against the cold as he waited patiently for the ceremony to start. Oh but it was so exciting!!

The scrawny calico apprentice made her way from where she had sheltered in the apprentices den, having hoped for some warmth. She had found little, but the excitement ofver finding out who would mentor her, was enough to keep her mind from the chilly weather. Apprenticed not long before, Mothpaw was until now without a mentor. She, Darkpaw and Dragonpaw, along with two kits would all be apart of the meeting, though she didn't know for the exact reasons. The kits would most likely be granted mentors, and Mothpaw herself knew she needed one, but Darkpaw was a mystery and Dragonpaw was older than the rest so that as well was unknown. Mothpaw couldn't wait. She was not only excited for herself, but for the others with her, who she would most likely be training with at some point during her apprenticeship.
She almost skipped from the den, and settled herself in the clearing, looking up at Leafstar with wide eyes, excitement clearly shining in them.

Silverkit followed his father out of the nursery and sat in a space that he had cleared for him and Wildkit. This was what he had wished for since forever, under different circumstances he was sure he would be exited. But he couldn't with his mother so sick. Silverkit looked over his shoulder at the nursery, worry bit into him and he wrapped his tail tight around him for comfort.

Hawkswing heard the call of the thunderclan leader and although it was thankfully quiet from where she was int he nursery, it probably wasn't closer up. She woundered how her kits would go at their ceremony and she hoped that she could be there with them. Sharing their joy. The best she could do was to wearily drag herself out and sit by the entrance to the nursery... Her sanctuary. She met Silverkits gaze as he looked at her and she blinked. The only sign of comfort she could give. The illness had spread and it wouldn't be long now.

A mouse was dangling from Sunspirit's jaws. Scrawny at best, but food. She had gone hunting with her apprentice Smokepaw, who trailed behind. She saw Dawnsghost enter the camp ahead of them, and she managed to her the last few words of Leafstar's calling. There was to be another meeting. She flicked her tail at her apprentice to hurry along. Then she herself burst through the camp entrance and rushed over to the fresh-kill pile. She dropped her mouse on the low pile and waited for her apprentice to drop down his prize as well. She smiled sadly at him, annoyed that Leaf-bare was causing the prey to shorten dramatically. But overall, Smokepaw had done well. He had caught a vole and some sort of large mouse that was bright orange and white. They found it near Twoleg Place, so the golden she-cat assumed it was from there. At least it was food. She rubbed her muzzle against his head, telling him that he did great without words. Then she made her way over to the forming crowd under Thunder Rock.
He had been restless all night. The whole day, he couldn't focus on anything. So instead he just sat around, watching the ThunderClan camp with blank eyes. Not that he wasn't excited. Wildkit's insides were swarming with anticipation. He was at last becoming an apprentice! The six moons in the Nursery had been long, and he was sick of it. The reason he wasn't jumping around like a frantic rabbit was because of Hawkswing. She was sick, and that worried the orange-brown tom. He could really only hope for the best, as he was helpless against disease.
But at last hearing Leafstar's call, he lifted his head, his eyes shining in the thought of what was to come. While his brother, Silverkit, almost rushed out, Wildkit did differently. He stayed behind for a few more heart-beats. He turned and gazed at the Nursery, where he was born and where he had lived for the past six moons with his brother and mother. Things would be different now. A different life almost. But he thought he was ready to say good-bye to this life and hello to his new one. So with renewed enthusiasm, he padded out of the Nursery and walked over to where his father and brother sat. He carefully sat on the cold ground, still silent. His mother watched from the Medicine Cat's Den, and sorrow bit at his chest that she couldn't be right next to them. But at least she had gone through the trouble of being there. He gazed steadily up at Leafstar, seeing pride in her eyes as she gazed at them.

Fox-dung! a shaggy gray cat cursed to herself. Why must it be so cold? My pads are going to turn blue at this rate... The figure was padding slowly through the forest of ThunderClan. It was cold, but everything was so beautiful when it was still and frosted white. She couldn't resist the temptation of taking one stroll through the frozen woods. Hawkswing seemed to be stable and the kits were fine, so what could it hurt? Nothing that she could think of... Her breath was billowing out playfully before her, clouding her amber vision every time she exhaled too deeply. She was up to her belly with the powder. The world had fallen silent and nothing disturbed the air, not even bird chirps. A small gust of wind ruffled her fur, but it didn't sting too bad.
Leafstar's call could be heard in the depths of the icy world. The shaggy cat perked up, listened to the rest of the call, and then lowered her head again. Bunching up, the gray she-cat leaped into the air and began to bounce her way towards the camp. She found herself smiling at the thought of how she must look, hopping through the snow in great leaps.
Finally reaching camp, the she-cat shook out her pelt and shivered. Leafstar was perched at her usual place, cats slowly creeping out to join at the base. Wolfpelt padded forward until she was at the entrance of her den, seating herself just outside. The wind wouldn't reach her here. Pricking her ears, the healing cat listened for what was to be said.

The dark tabby was sleeping lightly. Earlier today, his mother had walked into the Apprentice's Den and groomed him like a kit for hours it seemed. Although she never answered his questions as to why she was doing it, he knew why. A mother doesn't normally groom her offspring unless they are kits, becoming apprentices, or becoming warriors. He only had one option left. He felt ridiculous sitting there, Leafstar's tongue rasping over his dark pelt. But the fact that he was becoming a warrior- that made it better. At last- he had made it. Having nothing to do all day, he tried sleeping. At first all he could do was lay there and ponder at how fast his apprentice-hood had passed. He himself knew that he was an excellent fighter, more-so than the average warrior. Dragonpaw had dreamed of becoming a warrior with that respect, and here he was, moments away from that. When he finally feel asleep, it was light, for he couldn't afford to miss his mother's call.
And then it came. He opened his green eyes instantly, the same exact eyes as his mother. He was proud of that. His body was numb, but it was not because of the cold. It was from the exhilaration. He almost stumbled out of the den, drunk from pleasure. In fact, he almost stumbled, but for the fact that someone slightly smaller than him fell in besides him and balanced him. Dragonpaw turned to see who it was, and he smiled as he saw it was his friend Smokepaw. The gray tom was a couple of moons younger, but they were still pretty tight. "Careful Dragonpaw, you don't wanna miss this meeting!" the orange-speckled apprentice snickered, his eyes warm with happiness for his buddy. The dark tabby lashed his tail playfully, and the two sat down near the Thunder Rock. Smokepaw looked around, and noticed that Dragonpaw wasn't the only excited one. Darkpaw, Mothpaw, Wildkit, and Silverkit looked the same, although the kits also had worry in them. He sighed in sympathy for their mother, Hawkswing, who was the first in the Clan to get sick. The older tom, couldn't peel his gaze from his mother, who stood proudly on Thunder Rock. He couldn't have been born to a better mother, or Clan.
Leafstar: One more day before I start the announcement, so if you have a ThunderClan cat, it would be fantastic if they joined this meeting!

A pretty cinnamon tabby she-cat yawned as she quickly sorted the herbs and berries of the medicine-cat den. Their assorted smells drifted into her nose, although they had been very confusing the first few day's of her training, she was now used to them and could distinguish their individual scents. She sighed as she glanced outside. It was so cold out there! Everywhere she looked she saw a pure white blanket of snow that covered the ground, replacing the colorful leaves and green grass of of autumn. She hated the way the ice cold snow felt beneath her paws, it stung and froze her pads and reminded her of her dream she had not too long ago. Leafstar's voice startled her, sending a quick jolt through her small body. She shook herself and glanced quickly up at her mentor, Wolfpelt. Frostedpaw stood up, pushing the piles of herbs out of the way so she wouldn't accidentally step on them later, and sat beside her mentor. She wrapped her long tail around her already cold paws and closed her emerald green eyes for a moment. Frostedpaw sighed quietly and waited eagerly to hear what the leader had to say. 'Hopefully, it's something exciting!' She thought. Today had been quiet dull for the medicine-cat apprentice and she hoped that something would change that.

OOC: I will only do half of the meeting right now, as I need certain people. Or cats I should say =)
Shaking her head clear of the snow that had gathered there, the she-cat decided it was best to start. She blinked once, recalling what was to happen, her hackles rising from excitement. "ThunderClan! I have only good news today. But it is also a lot, so I will begin immediately. Dragonpaw, will you please step forward?"
At the sound of his name, Dragonpaw instinctively shot to his paws. He didn't think, didn't want to think. He just wanted to be named a new warrior. He padded close to the Thunder Rock and stood there, staring at his mother with bright eyes.
Seeing her son approach made Leafstar almost yowl out loud because she was so proud. She wished she could howl like a wolf so that she could let her feelings out. But she kept her calm, like always. With an eager leap, she was soon on the ground and looking straight into her eyes, except they were really Dragonpaw's, but their eyes were identical. He was definitely larger than her, his shoulders broader and his body muscular. But she had to stop admiring her son and continue the ceremony. Never looking away from his face, she began again, "I have seen you prove yourself countless times, Dragonpaw, and Dawnsghost agrees that perhaps it is time for you to leave the Apprentice's Den. So, I would like to have this time to honor you. I, Leafstar, Leader of ThunderClan, call upon my warrior ancestors to look down on this apprentice. He has trained hard to understand your noble code and I commend him to you as a warrior in his turn. Dragonpaw, do you promise to uphold the warrior code and to protect and defend your Clan, even at the cost of your life?" She paused to wait for the dark tabby's response, her eyes twinkling.
"I do," Dragonpaw blurted out a heart-beat after his mother finished. He knew he would do everything even without having to give an oath. But he was excited that he was going through such an ancient and traditional ceremony. His claws dug into the snow, scraping the hard earth below. This next part was the best.
"Then by the powers of StarClan, I give you your warrior name. Dragonpaw, from this moment you will be known as Dragonfire. StarClan honors your strength and courage and welcomes you as a full warrior of ThunderClan." At last, the words she could not wait to say were out. She was ready to burst with pride as she raised her head to touch her son's brow, lingering longer than usual. Her son was finally a warrior.
About ready to jump out of his skin, Dragonpaw received his warrior name and became Dragonfire, the ThunderClan warrior. He lowered his head to allow his mother to touch his brow, and he felt her love and pride spill into him with a single touch. "Thank-you," he whispered to her in a way that only she could hear. Then he raised his head and tail higher as Dragonfire was welcomed into the Clan as a warrior.

Little Jayflight was grooming her tail when the call was sounded, and she bounded over happily, eager to greet whoever got an apprentice. Eyes sparkled and she skidded to a stop, sitting beneath the rock with the others. Being the spaz she was, Jayflight ran a circle around FRostedpaw, flicked her lightly on the shoulder, giggled, and ran back to the clearing where she pretended nothing had happened. "Wonder what it'll be about," she whispered to whoever was nearest her.

Taking a deep breath in, and ignoring the chill bite at her throat, Leafstar looked around at the rest of the Clan. She found the four young cats she was looking for, meeting eyes with each one of them for a heartbeat. "Mothpaw, Darkpaw, Wildkit, and Silverkit, please come forward." She waited until the four cats made their way over to her before continuing. "Wildkit. Silverkit. Your time in the Nursery has come to it's end. Your time learning the ways of being a warrior has begun. From this moment on, until you receive your warrior names, you will be know as Wildpaw and Silverpaw. Now, all four of you-" she paused to make sure the older apprentices were listening, "need mentors." Now she turned her attention to the warriors in her Clan. "Dawnsghost, Jayflight, and Infernoheart, come forward." She waited for them to line up behind the apprentices before she began to pair them up.
"Dawnsghost, I understand you just saw your previous apprentice become a warrior. However, you have talent when it comes to training them to be the best they could be. This is why you will now have Mothpaw as a new apprentice." She waited for them to do the traditional nose-touching before continuing. "Jayflight, I hope your enthusiasm will be a good match for Silverpaw energy. You will be his mentor." After another pause, she continued. "Infernoheart, your determination and dedication to for ThunderClan's well-being is crystal clear to any cat. I hope that you can teach these needed skills to Wildpaw." The tabby she-cat waited once again before moving on to the last apprentice, who she would think would be puzzled as there was no warrior left to assign to him. "Darkpaw, I will do my best to teach you all there is to learn about being a warrior as your new mentor." Then she padded over to him and reached her muzzle out, touching cold noses with him. Then she turned back to the rest of her Clan and declared, "This meeting is now over. Everyone can return to their personal business. " She motioned for Darkpaw and Dragonfire to stay were they were with a wave of her tail. She first wanted to watch her Clan retreat to their dens.

Wolfpelt had cheered for the new Warriors. Her belly was light and, for now, the cold of leaf-bare seemed to seep away as cats cheered, their breath tumbling from them. She gave everybody a quick congratulations before she turned away. She skimmed through the snow and made her way back to her den. Peeking in for a brief moment, she watched over Hawkswing. Nothing seemed too bad. I should let her rest...
Turning away, the shaggy gray cat trotted lightly out of Camp, nodding respectfully to Leafstar before she exited. She smiled lightly. She must be proud. The thought reminded her that she would never have the chance at kits. It was a small sadness, but Wolfpelt really didn't mind. She had better things to focus on other than making an illegal family. Plus, she did have a family to look after. She looked after everybody in the Clan. They were her family until the end of the world...

Mothpaw, still slightly out of it, would take a step forward with her three mentor needing companions, before focusing her gaze on her paws for a moment, and giving her chest fur a few hurried licks. She probably looked completely disheveled. Mothers groomed their kits before these types of things. Ohwell, it was too late to fret about it now.
"Dawnsghost, I understand you just saw your previous apprentice become a warrior. However, you have talent when it comes to training them to be the best they could be. This is why you will now have Mothpaw as a new apprentice."
Mothpaw turned, looking for the figure. She'd only seen him once or twice, talked to him even less, but knew of his situation. His kits, who Mothpaw dimly heard being assigned mentors, were along side her, while his mate lay in the nursery, or perhaps the medicine cat den, ill. Mothpaw had thought she saw Wolfpelt leading someone, and it was most likely Hawkswing. She shook her head a little, and stepped forward, looking toward him with dark eyes. If he'd notice she was trembling. Scrawny gal was nervous.

Darkpaw watched with wide eyes. His ears were perfectly erect, his chin tilted the slightest bit forward. He gazed up at Leafstar, standing there above the whole clan. His mind wandered. One day... one day he may be able to utter those calling words. He imagined a older, more muscular Darkpaw-- no, Darkstar, and pride filled his breast. He would lead the clan away from danger, and always spearhead any battles between the clans. He looked around, feeling a little bit small. But, there were so many able warriors... if, and Starclan forbid, Leafstar would need to chose a new deputy, he would be at the bottom of the barrel for sure. He was one of the least experienced of the clan cats. His heart sank in his chest, floating to the bottom of his belly. But, he told himself after a quiet while as Leafstar spoke, I will be a warrior some day. That much is for sure. I shall serve my clan that way. Perhaps I may be of use, not just a useless bag of skin and bones. He licked his chest hurriedly, and when he was done, Leafstar made her first announcement.
It wasn't much of a shock for Darkpaw. Dragonpaw had been the eldest of the apprentices. He was due to become a warrior at any day. In fact, Darkpaw had wondered why it had taken the Thunderclan leader so long to hold the ceremony. Darkpaw nodded towards his colleague, his eyes ablaze with pride and congratulations. "Dragonfire...Dragonfire. Dragonfire!" he chanted enthusiastically, his big kitten-like eyes gazing up at his slightly older cohort. "Congratulations Dragonfire!" he called out to the new warrior. Huh, he thought sympathetically, He'll be a bit cold on vigil tonight, poor cat. But he would be able to sleep in the Warriors den. That would be pretty cool. Darkpaw cast a longing glance in that direction, gazing past some of his comrades. It looked so...regal. It was where the warriors lived. It was like a sacred temple for the best of the best in Darkpaw's mind, even though almost every cat goes through warrior-hood at some point.
His head snapped forward. At first, he didn't know why. Then, he figured it out. He was being given a warrior. Darkpaw almost leaped. He didn't. but Starclan knows he was very very close. Pace yourself, he scolded himself, trying not to look too much like a kitten. He plopped his little rear-end down on the frost bitten ground, looking up at his leader, hanging off her every words. The kits were made apprentices, and Darkpaw looked to them and offered a couple words of congratulations to his new den mates, thinking to himself that kits were the cutest things. Darkpaw noticed curiously that they were not given mentors. He wondered why that was... No matter, Leafstar had begun on the older apprentices. She called four apprentices: but only three warriors. Darkpaw looked about confusedly. He wasn't a genius but he knew they had more apprentices than that. He watched as the three warriors were all given apprentices. Darkpaw did not get a warrior. When the last warrior was paired up, Darkpaw visibly deflated. Was he in trouble? Why didn't he get one? He averted his gaze from Leafstar's miserably, his heart pounding against his chest in fear.
"Darkpaw," Darkpaw's gaze snapped up to the leader, "I will do my best to teach you all there is to learn about being a warrior as your new mentor." and his heart reached his tail. HER?! He didn't believe it. Darkpaw was chosen to be the leaders apprentice. "Uh..." he trailed unintelligibly. He could barely get his thoughts wrapped around the idea when she touched noses with him, and the cold wetness shocked him back into reality. He stood, shell shocked, as Leafstar dismissed the meeting. She needn't have told him to stay. He couldn't move anyway.

She bounded forward, eyes right away sparkling and her mouth wide in a grin. She dipped her head to Leafstar before searching out Silverpaw, strange tail flicking. She knew how he felt, in a way. He'd be worried for his mother no doubt, but she'd be proud of him, any way you put it. She reached forward, hesitaint at first, but exited as if she were the one getting a mentor. Blue eyes warm and welcoming, Jayflight was still grinning happily. This apprentice would learn so much, things that only she, the former loner who knew the territories like the back of her white front paw, could teach.

Smokepaw congratulated everybody with enough enthusiasm to last a life time. He was extremely happy for his buddy, Dragonfire. And he was glad that the Apprentice's Den would be more crowded, although in Leaf-bare, that was a good thing. With a tilt of his head, he realized something. With Dragonfire a warrior now, he was the oldest apprentice. It gave him a spark of happiness as Smokepaw went over to the Apprentice's Den to try to clear it up for his new denmates.
Dragonfire. Dragonfire. His new name kept replaying in his mind. He was paying half the attention to the rest of the meeting. But he knocked enough sense into himself to offer congratulations to each of the new apprentices. Frozen into spot, he couldn't really walk up to them, but he made sure they saw him nod and hear his encouraging words. After the meeting, he saw his mother motion for him to wait. He had no problem with that, as he would have to be out here anyway for his vigil.
As soon as the Clan had seemed to return to their business, Leafstar turned to the two toms she had asked to stay: her new apprentice and her son. First she looked to the new warrior. After a heartbeat she approached him and touched muzzles with him, offering another silent congratulations. Then she hesitantly drew away and looked at him happily. "Dragonfire," she meowed, savoring the way his name sounded, "You have some time before your vigil begins. Go rest meanwhile, and I shall have someone call you when it is time." She licked his ears and watched him leave, heading for a place where he could sleep warmly.
Now the she-cat turned to the young apprentice. "Darkpaw, we will begin tomorrow with a tour. As Clan leader, I may be intimidating, but I would like for you to see past that and come to me when ever you need anything. I need for you to trust me. It is not everyday that I choose an apprentice for myself." She touched the tom lightly on the shoulder with her white-tipped tail for emphasis. Without the trust of any normal mentor-apprentice relationship, Darkpaw would experience his apprentice-hood differently, and she did not want that just because she was the leader. She knew then that she would try really hard to give Darkpaw the best experience that she could. She also wanted him to forget his loner past, as it seemed to bug him. She wanted to show him that he had a place in ThunderClan, and that he was just as equal to any pure-blooded warrior.
Leafstar offered the a catty smile before adding, "Sleep well tonight, for tomorrow will be a long day. As Smokepaw to help you fix a nest in the Apprentice's Den." Afterward, she turned and padded into her own den, deciding she needed to rest as well. Thankful for the warmth inside, she settled herself cozily on her moss nest, burrowing her nose under her tail.

She looked around, flicking the white tip of her tail. "Rest now. I'll need you bouncing off the rocks for a tour tomorrow; and if we can squeeze in some training, you'll be the best warrior in hardly no time, Silverpaw[/i]." Her eyes sparkled happily and she nugded his side gently. "I'll help you with a nest in the Apprentices den." She thought some about Leafstar and Dragonfire with little emotion but joy; a new warrior for the clan, and a strong one at that. She could, after all, wait until Silverpaw became a warrior to think about that. Well, she'd have to. Jayflight didn't mind and, in fact, she was bursting with pride and thankful for Leafstar's choice. "Smokepaw," she called, "would you help me settle a place for Silverpaw? I can't help but want to squeeze a paw in."[/color]

Wildpaw almost leaped in exhilaration. At last, he was an apprentice! His worry for his mother disappeared for a time, as he rejoiced. Pleased with his mentor, Infernoheart, the orange brown tom padded over to him with a bounce in his step. He reached up to touch noses before settling down to see the rest of the apprentices paired up. Afterward, he knew that he had to find a spot in the apprentices den. So he stood up and meowed shyly to the warrior, "I'll go ready my nest." He waited for two heartbeats for him to interject, but his mentor did not object. So he turned and followed the rest of the apprentices to their new den.
Sunspirit watched the ceremony with pleasure. She knew Smokepaw was good friends with Dragonfire, and now there was four more apprentices in the den, which was good news. She yowled her congratulations to all of them before turning to the fresh-kill pile. She picked out a scrawny squirrel for herself, a protesting stomach forcing her too. She had shared a mouse in the morning, and now sunset was near. She ate the squirrel thankfully, offering StarClan a prayer of gratitude. She glanced over at the Apprentice's Den and realized that Smokepaw would have a lot of work to do. But it was all a part of being an apprentice.

[sorry!]
Dawnsghost sat up with a whuff of surprise. Him? A mentor again? In almost stunned silence, he padded up to his new apprentice, Mothpaw, and leaned down, touching her nose with his. Sitting beside her, he listened to the rest of Leafstars announcement, cheering for the new apprentices. When the meeting ended, he turned to Mothpaw and meowed 'We don't have time for much today, but what you can do is tell me what you know, so I can see where to start.' The tom was already outlining a 'training schedule' for his new charge, and waited upon her answer.

[Sorry Missed this! ^.^]
Mothpaw looked at her feet again, dark eyes blinking "I don't really know much." she admitted, slowly, "Mother left me here not that long ago. I know the territory rather vaguely, and several movements I've seen the others doing." It was hard for her to explaian that she didn't know what she should have. She was a moon behind, and had a lot more ground to make up. It both scared her and exhilerated her, because by the end of her training, she would finally be a clan cat.
