The tom followed silently, soaking in everything the two mentors were saying to them. His head down and ears trained, his eyes scanning the forest and his nose scenting out many different types of prey and other plants and animals. He was a good student that way, but a quiet one. He might as well not have been there. He padded on, thinking the whole time about life and about the clan and about whatever popped into his head. He was mostly too afraid to say anything to make him look like a total mousbrained idiot. So he kept his jaws clenched shut as he followed the train of cats through the forest, memorizing the important land marks as they went. Finally they came to the sunningrocks and he felt that there was some tensions about the territory. He had heard some pretty horrific battle stories.
He gazed up at Leopardstar with big, wondering eyes. "It is obviously in our territory. What the river does and does not do is not up to us, and it just so happened that it moved in our favor. If the river had expanded Riverclan would claim that as their territory, because the River is their territory. But that island has now become apart of the forest, which is our territory. why fight about it? Why would they spill so much blood over something that is so obviously ours?" he asked passionately, his eyes dark and a little sad. Why fight, he wondered.

Dawnsghost agreed with Darkpaw, but it wasn't really his decision. 'Well, no one can know what goes on in those RiverClan cat's minds, but I think they believe that it is theirs by right. We know it is ours, so we fight them to keep it from them. They probably believe that they have some sort of ancestral claim over them, and seem to believe that StarClan has given Sunningrocks to them as a … gift almost.' Why they think that, he didn’t know, so didn’t say anything, simply staring across the river into the territory claimed by the water cats and their leader, Ebonstar.

Leafstar couldn't help but wonder at her new apprentice. He was so different from the others, calm and wise. She was used to them bouncing everywhere and begging to fight RiverClan. But Darkpaw thought differently. He wanted peace. Hmmm... he'd do well in a high ranked position, she thought. She nodded gravely at Dawnsghost, realizing how true his words were. Who knew what RiverClan had in their minds? She nodded approvingly to her young apprentice before adding sarcastically, "The fish has gotten to their heads and they have begun to think strangely."
She really didn't think that. She knew RiverClan's prey had nothing to do with the sunningrocks dilemma. She did wonder why they thought like they did, but she didn't question it. She shrugged slightly before leaping down from the rock she had just been on, landing gracefully. She blinked slowly before meowing, "So, shall we continue?"

Darkpaw stole one more glance over the river and wondered how many cats were murdered senselessly over something as simple as some land. He didn't get it. If he were leader he would at least try to talk it out. Ah well. He wasn't leader, and he probably would never be the leader. So he put the thought out of his mind and nodded respectfully to Leafstar. "Yes, Leafstar" he mewed, "Where will we go next?" he asked as excitedly as any normal apprentice would. He'd like to see what Leafstar had to show him. She probably had a wealth of knowledge in there somewhere that he had to earn the right to access. He would prove himself. And he would become a warrior. Someday. He padded as silently as he could through the forest but he was still pretty loud. His ears twitched back in frustration as he concentrated thoroughly on stepping lightly and gingerly. No dice. He stifled a frustrated hiss. Curse my inherent clumsiness!

Mothpaw, for a moment had trailed behind though after a mad dash to catch up she was by Darkpaw's.side just in time to see him falter. A mrrow of laughter would escape her maw along with a sidelong comment "smooth moves you have there Darkie" Seems like she was already very comfortable around her very alike friend. Now normally a portion of our dear Mothpaw's brain is set on walking across surfaces without falling every few seconds, however when talking at the same time comes into play there are no garentees about this part of her brain functioning correctly. This was one such time. Seconds after she chastised Darkpaw for his clumsiness her feet slid out from her her for three seconds, causeing a very noticable wobble. Heat bloomed beneath her fur though she said nothing.
Sorry guys life's been kicking my butt, but I'll get back into the swing of things soon enough

Jaderain was hunting, doing her own thing, whatever she wanted, really. The chilly air buffetted against her tiny form as she tried to dig for some food, a mouse, a vole, anything to satisfy her hunger. However, her efforts where all for naught, nothing turned up, at all. Hungry and cold she padded along slowly untill she came towards a group of her clanmates. She slowly came up beside Dawnsghost and dipped her head in a greeting, trying to figure out what they where looking at.
" Greetings, Leafstar, Dawnsghost"

As they began to walk besides the riverbank once more, Leafstar watched idly as the two apprentices conversed. Not completely on the words spoken themselves, but more on them, studying how they move, etc. She almost chuckled at their clumsiness. But she did not blame them, for they were young and still inexperienced when it came to moving through the forest. But they would learn and master the abilities of ThunderClan soon enough.
Moments after she looked away from them, she heard slight movement to her right and she paused. Her muscles tensed in fear that it would be an enemy patrol. But then the familiar shape of Jaderain emerged from the snowy undergrowth and greeted them.
Her body relaxed, Leafstar sighed in relief. An invasion would really suit them badly during this weather. "Hello Jaderain," she meowed, "What bring you out into the forest?"

[/b] he echoed her greeting, and then raised his head to look about where they were. "I know this place..." he whispered darkly. This was the place where his brother, Dante (probably deceased) killed his mother. Where the rouges had come to kill his father. Darkpaw had hidden himself, and masked his scent with dung. He watched them chase Dante away, and could only pray to Starclan that something, or somecat, had cut him down. After a moments lapse of consciousness, he shook his head and turned back to the small patrol, a little shaken, yet OK. He lowered his eyes shamefully and retreated into his little shell. Paw raised, perhaps to jab him in the ribs, before the rustling and tensed from of Leafstar would be noticed. A moment of tense muscles and her stubbed tail raiseing as far as it could , before Jaderain would be recognized, and she would lower her paw, quieter now, listening to them talk. "Hello" came her quiet greeting.
A few soft words from Darkpaw would catch her attention, flicking an ear around in his direction, head following a moment later. What was up with him? Was this portion of Thunderclan's territory any different than the rest? She glanced around them, noticing nothing out of the ordinary... Hm...
"Dark--" she sarted almost, quietly, then thought better of it, sometimes it was better to let a person solve their own problems. She would keep an eye on him though. Just in case.

" And what brings you out into the forest?"
Leafstar's question had taken her by surprise a little, normally she came out into the forest to hunt, or to just be alone for a little while, something to keep her mind occupied while she thought over big decisions. " I guess i came out here to watch the moon's beauty." Jade murmured, looking to the sky as to second her motion, a shooting star appered in silverpelt. quietly, she made a wish, that the winter would soon be over and no one else would die.
It was a false hope, but sometimes you have to hold onto those precious little hairs of hope.
" And you? why have you ventured out, when the forest is so cold?"

[sorry! I've been distracted lately >.<]
Dawnsghost had trundled along after the other cats, not really paying much attention to their surroundings. He froze, hearing the rustle of leaves and tensed for attack, but relaxed when he saw it was only Jaderain. He didn't really know the she-cat, but he nodded in greeting, then gestured to the apprentices. 'Territory tour for these two. We've only just begun, so we're on our way towards Fourtrees.' The slowly lightening sky was quite beautiful, and as he raised his head to stare at the horizon, a flash of silver caught his eye. The shooting star made it's way across the sky, and he closed his eyes for a moment. Please, Starclan, watch over our Clan and keep them strong!

Thinking for a moment, Leafstar then decided to ask Jaderain, "Would you like to join us? Or are you preoccupied in your hunting?" Her pelt was sprinkled with ice droplets and snowflakes by now. She- they- needed to get moving in order for them not to freeze in spot. Well, maybe that was an exaggeration. The day was cold, but not freezing. There was no biting wind, making it more bearable. She did glance towards the direction of Four Trees. They had a lot more for the apprentices to see.
