Ooh, I know no one likes rules, but there have to be some or it would be chaos! So take a deep breath and plunge on in! The codeword to make a character is also hidden in these rules, there are a total of 5 letters in the rules which are in bold (not the titles or whole words) these letters spell out the codeword! Good luck!
IC RULES
1) Starting with the obvious, no power playing or god-moding! For those who don't know, power playing means that you start acting for someone else’s character by making them do stuff you want them to E.g. injuries/accidents, deaths, pregnancies, decision making etc. God-moding means that your cat - is a cat. They can’t fly, they cant sprout extra legs or get away uninjured from any battle/fight. Don't give them powers that any normal cat wouldn't have. Also, we do accept the odd and quirky cats that no one else will love but if you do make a character please be as realistic as possible with everything about it. This ties in with the God-moding, i.e. no cats with super powers, but also - please can we not have any sparkly pink and green cats with stars in their fur etc.
2) No impersonating!! NEVER pretend to be someone else/someone else’s character! This can have very serious implications. If you said something that offended another member or guest whilst impersonating someone else - that person would then be wrongly blamed for it and, depending on the severity of what was said, possibly even banned from the forum when it is not their fault. DON'T DO IT!!
3) No swearing. This applies both in and out of character. Things like 'crap' and 'bloody' will be overlooked so long as it's not every other word you use. The occasional stronger swear word may be overlooked if it's you in character - but OOC it will not be tolerated.
4) No chat speak. E.g. 'Bt te cat sed i lv u n ran away' It's a descriptive writing forum - please write properly or don't bother in the first place, kthx. (Haha - joke =D)
5) KITS! Everyone loves kits! I'm not going to be mean and say you can only do the whole kit thing at certain times of the RP year but there are a few things to note.
• Firstly, you cannot own both the mother and the father.
• You may only adopt one kit per litter.
• Both characters and their RPers must agree to being mates/having kits beforehand.
• No kit is born evil. They have their own personalities yes, but if you want an evil character something needs to happen to them in life to turn them nasty - it doesn't just pop into their head overnight.
6) When you create a character you are welcome to create a Warrior without taking him/her through their kithood/apprenticeship, but please bear in mind that if we end up with too many Warriors and not enough kits, apprentices and elders there may be a ban on making Warriors from scratch and you will have to make a cat who’s at a different stage of life.
7) There won’t be a specific limit on the number of characters you have but if you do intend to have more than one character there are two ways to choose from on how you keep them. First choice is you can have them all on one account with your main character being your account name (if you choose this option please ensure that all other characters active on this account are listed in your signature with separate text colours for each one, to avoid confusion). OR you can have a separate account for each character with their name being your account name (if you choose this option you would not have to have their name in your signature or a specific text colour).
8) A single member cannot play more than one high ranking position, unless in specially allowed circumstances or desperate situations.
POSTING RULES
1) Posts must be a decent length or they will be ignored/deleted. I don't mean a full 400 page novel - just not one or two squiddly little lines. At the very least ONE paragraph per post for members, for higher ranking members we prefer at least TWO paragraphs per post.
2) No double-posting. E.g.
POST 1: 'Hello?' called Smallkit..
POST 2: On hearing no answer, Smallkit walked on into the territory.
So no post should be that lame but you get what I mean. If no one answers your post within 3 weeks, granted, you have reason to put your hand up. Bear in mind though, please, that some people who use this forum have busy lives and can’t always visit every day.
3) Spelling and grammar are important! We do have a spell checker on the site, but if that ever breaks down, there's always things like Microsoft Word that will check it all for you. The occasional mishap is forgiven, but constant errors will be picked up on.
4) Posts must be written in the third person. E.g. 'Darkwhisker walked towards the freshkill pile, his tail held aloft' This is in the third person, compared to 'I walked towards the freshkill pile, my tail held aloft'
OOC RULES - Gah! There's more! I know how you feel - but please read on!
1) As in the IC section, no swearing please and thanks. The same applies as was said there... don't know? Well you didn't read them properly then - go back and try again.
2) No abuse of guests or other members, this includes flaming. IF YOU ARE CAUGHT DOING THIS YOU WILL BE BANNED FROM THE SITE.
3) Please try to limit the amount of Spam you do. If it’s your thread and everyone knows you and how crazy you are/can be, then you may Spam a little bit. However, if it’s someone else’s thread please do respect it.
4) Activity checks will be held twice annually or earlier than that if needs be. As mentioned above, we wont limit your number of characters, but if you make a lot please keep them all active! Otherwise they will either be adopted out to other people or just plain deleted. (NB: There is a leaving/going away board - if you are going to be away for a bit please let us know! That way we won’t delete your character(s) in a spontaneous activity check!)
END. =D
