Once again, Leafstar leaped onto the rock where she made the announcements. It was a good thing, her having to make such positive announcements. She just hoped they stayed good in the freeze of leafbare.
"Will all cats able to catch their own prey gather beneath Thunder Rock for a Clan meeting," she yowled, sitting down daintily on the smooth stone. She gazed steadily down at the clearing, awaiting her clanmates to emerge from their dens and their business. She was in particular looking for one pelt though. A bright orange. Firepaw, the cat who this meeting was for.

Wolfpelt shuddered. Her gray pelt was proving nearly useless at keeping out the frigid wind. If this nasty winter didn't end soon...
"Will all cats able to catch their own prey gather beneath Thunder Rock for a Clan meeting." The healing cat glanced up and out into the cold outer world. Her den was proving to be of some help. Now, if I could just capture fire like the Twolegs, the whole camp would be warm. Wolfpelt sighed at her silly thought. Cats couldn't do that! Only Twolegs, with their somehow amazing smarts, could contain the burning tongues. Shaking off the thought for the moment, Wolfpelt pushed out into the bitter wind.
"It's another cold one, huh, Leafstar?" the shaggy cat tried to meow jokingly. "We're going to have to thaw the squirrels out at this rate!" The medicine cat flicked her shivering tail for emphasis. She released a rusty purr, setting herself lightly on the ground a few tail-lengths away from the large boulder and keeping within earshot of the leader's words.

"Will all cats old enough to catch own prey gather here beneath Thunder Rock for a clan meeting" The call rang through the clearing, echoing deep into the dens.
Awaking from a restless night sleep due to some commotion in the den that night, Infernoheart, pulled himself to his paws, his white pelt sticking out like a sore thumb among the darkness. He stretched forward, his tail flicking from side to side. 'If there are any more meeting's that are this cold, I'm not going.' The tom thought to himself, having his fair share of bad weather, he was sick of it. The squirrel from yesterday had been completely frozen, and tasted foul.
Padding out of the warrior's den, Infernoheart, gazed upon his Leader once again. As far as he went, he would never find a cat as gentle as Leafstar. Well in her clan she seemed gentle, although the tom had a feeling that this was not the same for the other clan cats. Especially Shadowclan. No one likes them. And there beside the leader was Wolfpelt, a more wonderful medicine cat would not be found, she was truly one of a kind.
By the look of Wolfpelt, the old she-cat was yet again, attempting humour. Something which Infernoheart thought she would never accomplish. Resting his tail neatly on his paws, Infernoheart awaited the others. While offering a swift greeting to the she-cats, he began to wonder what the meeting was about...

"for a Clan meeting," was all Sunspirit heard. She had been asleep, dreaming of the warmth of leafbare and how mice seemed to step right under paws in the lush forest. However, the end of Leafstar's announcement and movement somewhere close by awakened her. She lifted her golden head and saw as Infernoheart padded out of the den. She yawned lazily and for a moment, lay back down. Her nest was so warm. But she pushed herself up and after a luxurious stretch, padded out of the den. She growled softly at the stinging cold, but was eternally grateful of her thick pelt. The golden Maine Coon sat down a little away from the tom meowing a cheerful greeting. She wasn't about to let the cold get to her positive attitude. She nodded respectfully at her leader and Wolfpelt, then began to groom the moss out of her long fur, her pink tongue rasping over it elegantly almost.
Itching to do something, Wildpaw lay in his nest in the Apprentice's Den impatiently. So far the day had been boring and he had finished all his duties early. His russet tail twitched as he gazed at the ground in front of him. The moment Leafstar called for a Clan meeting, he bounced up from his nest and stood standing. He was about to rush out of the den but realized how silly he would look. So he took a deep breath and regained his composure before stepping out from beneath the trunk's roots and emerging in the clearing. Few cats were out already. With purpose once again in his paws, Wildpaw made his way over to sit beside his mentor, Infernoheart. He murmured a "Hello," before looking up to gaze at Leafstar expectantly.

Dragonfire licked his jaws once last time, searching for any little piece of meat he might have missed. The vole he had caught wasn't enough to fill his belly, and he couldn't afford to waste any little scrap. He watched his mother call a Clan meeting and cats beginning emerge from their cozy dens. He had just been hunting on a patrol, catching the vole he just ate and a after a lot of digging- a mouse. It was little, but he felt accomplished that he had contributed something. At last finished with his meal, he rubbed his paw over his muzzle swiftly to try and groom it. Not like it mattered. It seemed that his fur always stuck out in random places. He stood up and padded over to beneath the Thunder Rock, flicking his ears in greeting to Leafstar. He sat close to Wolfpelt, attempting again to groom his fur, but the relentless leafbare wind made it even harder.
A massive headache enveloped Smokepaw. He didn't dare open his eyes, because every time he did, the shadows of the Apprentice's Den swirled and made his eyes hurt too. He felt as if he was freezing, but every time he touched his head, heat radiated from him. And every once in a while, he would erupt coughing, sometimes violently, sometimes just a meager cough. All the gray apprentice felt was pain.
He had been in the den all day, snuggled among the moss and ferns of his nest. He was all the way at the back, where it was warmer, since he was the oldest apprentice. But that didn't help the fact that an ice aura seemed to surround him. He faintly heard Leafstar's summons for a Clan meeting, but he was to weak to react immediately. He built up some strength, and with his eyes still shut, he stood up cautiously. He wobbled on weak legs, and he felt nauseous and dizzy. It really wasn't a good idea to be standing up, but he wanted to be at the meeting. He didn't want anyone to think anything was wrong with him. He himself didn't know what he was sick of. But he did not want Wolfpelt to waste her meager supply of herbs on him.
He slowly opened his eyes, the shapes in front of him hazy. His amber eyes were dull and unfocused. But Smokepaw somehow found the strength to move one paw in front of the other. It took him forever to get to the entrance of the den. But he made it. The cold wind that buffeted him didn't help either. He sat down wearily at the base of the tree stump, not finding the energy to go any farther. A couple of coughs came from his mouth, and he tried to smother the sound by coughing into his chest. He groaned quietly and half-closed his eyes, trying to listen to the meeting. He just hoped no one looked over at him.

'Will all cats able to catch their own prey gather beneath Thunder Rock for a Clan meeting.'
The yowl of his leader woke Dawnsghost from his uneasy slumber, and he heaved himself out of his nest, shivering at the cold bite of the winter air. Quickly making himself presentable, he padded out into the clearing, noting how few warriors were there. Snorting a laugh, he padded over to the apprentices den, calling out from the entrance, 'Mothpaw, Darkpaw, you have to get up, Leafstar's called a Clan meeting.' Then, with a sigh at the lack of immediate response, padded back to the middle of the clearing. Seating himself next to his former apprentice, he meowed hello to Dragonfire, then settled in to wait for the beginning of the meeting, glad his pelt was thick enough to keep ot most of the cold.

Infernoheart flicked his tail in a return greeting to his apprentice, proud to see the young cat was the first apprentice up. Now the other cats were beginning to gather for the meeting, the tom gazed around at some of them, Sunspirit and her positive attitude were always good to see, especially in this weather. There was Dragonfire and Dawnghost, two very good friends.
Out of the corner of his eye, Infernoheart, managed to catch a glimpse of Smokepaw, making a mental note to inform Wolfpelt that he did not look very well at all. Trying to get the young cat motivated, Infernoheart waved a tail for Smokepaw to come over, although he didn't look it in his condition.

"Will all cats able to catch their own prey gather beneath Thunder Rock for a Clan meeting," heard firepaw. He knew the meeting was for him. And He would finally receive his mentor.

Seeing the clearing fill up fairly quick, Leafstar was satisfied and decided to begin. Still sitting, she swept her tail across the rock face and finished with it laying over her white paws. "ThunderClan!" her voice boomed dramatically, "In the chill of leafbare, we prosper. It is time to welcome yet another apprentice into the ranks. Firepaw, come forward. You may have the name of -paw, but you are not an official apprentice until you receive a mentor to guide your pawsteps." She finished in what she hoped was an honorable way. She would have to wait for the young tom to approach the rock before she continued the ceremony and gave him a mentor.

Firepaw stepped out of the apprentices den and padded over to the thunder rock. He was excited, he would finally receive his mentor and "paw" at the end of his name.He was glad he was finally receiving his mentor, he didn't even care if he received the newest mentor! Firepaw took a couple more pawsteps until he was finally on thunder rock. Any second now..... Firepaw couldn't handle the wating.

[OOC: Nods serenely in agreement with Dark. And Swiftpaw, I haven't replied because I needed someone to be your mentor, but I have someone now, so the meeting continues....]
Seeing as the young tom had approached already, Leafstar stood and with one graceful leap, landed in front of the tom, her head level with most of the clan cats, but still taller than Firepaw. She looked down at him expectantly, and after a moment of meeting her crystalline green eyes with his, she began to speak. "Rogueheart, you are one of the senior warriors in ThunderClan. You have contributed so much already, but I see that you are willing to give even more. That is why you will now be Firepaw's mentor. Teach him all that you have learned." She turned to look at the warrior as she spoke, giving him a slight nod.

Rogueheart had managed to sneak into the meeting after his delayed waking in the Warrior's Den. He stood near the back, his fur spiking up like always, but still listening. He was startled to hear his name. Understanding that Leafstar had just given him a mentor, he was suddenly a little regretful that he hadn't even tried to groom. Its not like it really would have made a difference however. He stood up and padded forward. He gave his leader a respectful nod of thanks before looking down at his new apprentice. He gave Firepaw a smirk before lowering his face to touch noses with him. Then he sat down next to the apprentice and swiped his tail across the floor, unintentionally messing it up more.

Sunspirit was the first to began to traditional chant. "Firepaw! Firepaw!" she yowled fiercely, encouraging her clanmates to join her. She gave the tom a warm look with her amber eyes. While chanting, she looked around quickly to look for her own apprentice, Smokepaw. She couldn't see him among the gathered cats, and her ears drooped in worry. He was dedicated, and he attended every clan meeting. Maybe he had overslept, he had looked really out of it the day before....
Wildpaw was almost startled by Sunspirit's voice close to him calling out Firepaw's name. It took him a moment to realize that he had to join in too. He opened his jaws and joined in the celebratory name calling. The apprentice's den would be pretty full now.

Dawnsghost joined in, his strong voice melding with the other cats' as he called the apprentices name. He glanced around again, looking for the two apprentices as he did, spotting neither. Smokepaw was here though, and he didn't look well. He would point the younger cat out to Wolfpelt after the meeting he decided, the turned his attention back to his leader. Leafstar looked as though she had something more to say as she waited for the clan to quieten.

"Mousebrain! you're late!" Crookedfeather chided herself under her breath, slinking carefully around the Thunder Rock until she got to her place in front of it. Sitting down slowly, and hoping none of her clanmates would notice her late arrival, she gave her whiskers a quick shake and began yowling the new apprentice's name with a mix of pride and embarrasment, "Firepaw, Firepaw!" before snapping her jaws shut when the rest of the clan finished their chant.

[It's all good ]
As the chanting at last quieted down, Leafstar gazed around the clearing. She was looking for one face in particular. When she saw the she-cat, she blinked and headed back to Thunder Rock. She leaped on it for the second time that day and stood proudly as she looked down at her clanmates.
"ThunderClan, last night, StarClan sent me a sign. We have been without a Deputy for some time, since the death of our previous one. I was unsure of who to pick next, and our ancestors helped me in that. In my dream, I walked through our territory, and the undergrowth was lush and the prey plenty. Everything was prosperous. And as I strolled, a crooked feather fell from the sky. It landed before me, and then I was awakened. I knew then who must be out new Deputy." She paused for a moment to take a breath before continuing, "I say these words before StarClan, that the spirits of our ancestors may hear and approve my choice. Crookedfeather will be the new ThunderClan Deputy."
Leafstar looked over at the she-cat and nodded encouragingly for her to step up and accept her new role in the Clan.

Darkpaw's paws ached. His right one more than anything. He limped awkwardly from side to side, unknowing that thick thorn was wedged deep into the flesh of his pads. He continued walking through the snow, every step driving the thorn deeper into his paw. Finally he gave up and walked with it curled to his chest, the measly vole clenched in his jaws. "Stupid foot," he thought miserably as he pushed his way through the tunnle which led to his home. Thunderclan camp.
His eyes widened with horror as he saw the cats gathering around the Highrock. He had missed a whole gathering? Tcha! He hastily found the fresh kill pile (which was depressingly low) and hopped to sit a few tail lengths away from Wolfpelt, the Thunderclan medicine cat. He ignored the throbbing in his paw and started to make deductions about what exactly had transpired here. A young cat stood proudly next to a warrior-- so an apprenticeship was made. But he hadn't caught what Leafstar was saying before he came in. He looked from Crookedfeather to Leafstar, then back again. The mood seemed jovial, and relieved. He was just about to ask the cat beside him what had happened when he figured it out. Deputy!

Crookedfeather was not a cat who usually had problems with coherency, but the first thing she managed to coax out of her scattered thoughts when the news that she was deputy had sunk in was a pitiful "Me?" Shaking her head, she got to her paws and tried a more eloquent answer."Thank you, Leafstar, I will do my best" she promised, dipping her head in a quick, bowing motion.

Dawnsghost felt immense joy towards his new deputy, and heartily called her name. She deserved it completely, and she was a responsible cat whom the Clan could rely on. His voice rang through the clearing, showing his support of Crookedfeather and his leaders choice. Then, he glanced over at the apprentice who had just walked in. He had his paw curled to his chest and was walking awkwardly on three legs. His face looked pained, and Dawnsghost sidled over to him. 'What's up with your paw?' He asked Darkpaw.
