She didn't notice the crackling of leafs and twigs beneath her paws. Her mind was on a clan she had heard of. It's name was Thunderclan, it's territory was leafy and forested. She smelt the stench of a faraway thunderpath, the muffled screams of monsters as they passed it. She walked past a clearing with a huge stone, she stared at it in wonder. The smell of cats was strong here, but she continued on until she scent she had been taught came to her. It was that of Thunderclan cats. Jay smiled to herself and stopped short, she knew she shouldn't be trespassing. She sat down, curled her striking tail around her paws, and yowled. "Hello? Thunderclan? I'm seeking a home and would like to join you!" Her pure and sweet scent followed her, some moving swiftly downwind. She didn't know this, but it was traveling right to their camp. She flicked her ears at a crackling twig somewhere deep within the woods, she watched the direction in which it came intently.....

'Hello? Thunderclan? I'm seeking a home and would like to join you!' An unfamiliar voice came out of the trees, close to where Dawnsghost had been hunting. It sounded young and female. Following the scent path in the direction of the camp, the russet warrior watched as a petite, willowy blue-gray she-cat moved unsurely through his Clan's territory. After deciding that she would pose no threat, he padded quietly forward, coming out behind her. 'You called?' He announced his presence with a slightly huffy tone as he sat comfortably just out of her reach.

Hearing an unfamiliar voice somewhere near by, Dragonpaw looked around for his mentor, Dawnsghost. They had been on a hunting patrol, and Dragonpaw had drifted a little to follow the scent of a mouse. His prize was now inbetween his jaws, but that wasn't on his mind. Behind the scent of mouse he could scent a cat from outside their territory, and it wasn't from another clan.
He rushed to find his mentor and found him sitting of all things. But then he saw the black she-cat not too far away. Definetely a stranger. Dragonpaw dropped the mouse and tensed, ready to fight if needed. But first, they needed to hear what this skinny she-cat had to say.

[Jay's not black, she's dark blue-gray with black stripes and her tail gets lighter as it goes, like at i37.tinypic.com/seoiv7.jpg ] She blinked, not daring to turn around. However, she rose and tilted her head to get a glimpse of what had found her. The scent was feline and Thunderclan in origin, a tom. Her many-toned tail twitched and the haunted look of despiration shone in her eyes. "A-are you the leader?" She heard another cat, smaller she guessed, enter the scene loudly and she turned to see a pair of cats standing there. She was correct, both were toms and the newer one was smaller than the other. She vaguely recalled her disturbing dream, her attacking the tawny tom. It had thankfully not been true and Jay wasn't a violent cat, mabye it was just a root digging in her side. Besides, her eyes didn't glow! She shook it off and looked at the larger and older looking tom straight in the eye, blinking slowly.

Dreamstep was out hunting by herself, she hadn't asked anyone to go with her, and suddenly scented ThunderClan cats Dawnsghost and Dragonpaw and an unfamiliar scent also. It was cat, but not a Clan cat. The she-cat walked out and saw the she-cat. She was dark blue-gray with black stripes and her tail got lighter as it went down. She was very pretty."Who are you and what are you doing on ThunderClan territory?" Dreamstep was not wanting a fight, but would if it meant defending her Clan.

'No, I'm not, but I am a senior warrior of ThunderClan. What is your name?' He was flattered that the rogue had thought him leader, but he adressed the matter at hand, repeating the question Dreamstep posed. Turning to the ThunderClan she-cat, he meowed, 'She's looking for a place in the Clan. Should we take her to the camp to see Leafstar or bring Leafstar to her?'

"Jay." She smiled inwardly at her name, how well it fit her! Her eyes wre blue as jay fathers and on a moonlit night, perhaps such a bird's color would match her own fur's brillaint tones. She guessed Leafstar was the leader. She sat calmly, flicking her tail in the breeze. "Whatever your comfortable with should be done, I belive. Now, you know my name. May I ask all of yours?" Her voice was light and wispy, like the wind blowing over the moorlands in a cool leaf-fall morning. She looked around again at the gathered cats; a she-cat, a senoir warrior tom, what appeared to be a cat in training of some sort, and her.

Dreamstep listened to what Dawnsghost had to say and replied,"I think we should take her back to camp." She turned to Jay and meowed," I'm Dreamstep." She was excited at the thought of new Clan members. It would be a good thing, even if the other Clans didn't approve. She thought Jay would be a good Clan cat, but she would have to learn some things, but it wouldn't be hard. At least Dreamstep didn't think it would be hard for her.

Dragonpaw listened to the conversation happening before him, but he didn't intrude because he was just an apprentice. But he would be ready to run to camp to get his mother, Leafstar, if needed. He looked back at Jay, who actually looked liked she could handle life in the forest. Perhaps it wouldn't be a bad idea to let her join ThunderClan, as the clan would just benefited. "I am Dragonpaw," he meowed to her. If Dreamstep gave her name, then it wouldn't hurt to say his name either, especially if the loner she-cat joined the clan. She would have to learn the ways of the warriors, but that wouldn't take long, since she already probably had some experience.

Speaking last, Dawnsghost answered 'And I am Dawnsghost. If you could follow us back to camp, we will introduce you to Leafstar, our leader.' With that, he turned and exited the clearing, not waiting to see if Jay would follow.

Nodding to each as they spoke, she smiled. "Nice to meet you all." She looked briefly in the direction of the Thunderpath before wrinkling her nose in disgust. Even the thought of the horrid stench was revolting, let alone the patrol of cats that glared at her. She surely didn't want to face them alone, but she'd have gone right over and taught a single cat a lesson if she could! She knew that those cats were from Shadowclan, how many times had her mother warned her not to go there for the cats there do not welcome anyone! Her mother knew so much about clans, even though she was a rogue. Riverclan was the clan of streams and water, Windclan was the cats of the moor. The other two were known for their overall personality; Thunderclan was brave and loyal while Shadowclan was typically dark and wily.

Dragonpaw waited for Dawnsghost and the two she-cats to pass by before he bent to pick up his mouse. Then he took up the rear. Since this was an escorting patrol, this was tradition. He felt proud to be such an active member in ThunderClan. Already he was known for his dedication. Maybe he might even go to the next gathering.
He kept his ears and nose alert for any sound. He was glad that the trees blocked out most of the chilly winds that came with leaffall, and he felt sorry for WindClan, who were exposed completely. He really loved ThunderClan.

Before she knew it, her paws were taking her with the others to the camp. How did she get there? Oh well. She felt a sudden surge of exitement. Thunderclan! She wanted to jump to the sky, to Starclan that her mother told her about; in pure joy! But would she look normal? No, she she stayed like cats should be; on the ground. She wondered if they would test her. Puffing out her chest for only a heartbeat, she knew that anything they threw at her would be faced without hesitation. These cats were loyal, she could tell, and soon she'd be one of them.

Dawnsghost padded through the trees, emerging just outside the tunnel enterance to the camp. Slipping through, he waited until the other cats joined him to move onwards. Looking about the camp, he watched the occupants go through with their daily tasks. He was proud to have been gifted with the responsibility of helping guard his Clan, and he took it very seriously. 'Leafstar? Are you in camp?' he called out to his leader.

Hearing a familiar voice call her from the camp entrance, Leafstar stood up from the nest she was laying in the Warrior's Den. She had been sharing tongues with her mate. But this sounded urgent, so made her way out of the root that made the den and looked over at the patrol of cats waiting for her. It was Dawnsghost, Dreamstep, Dragonpaw, and a stranger she-cat. She approached warily, stopping in front of the senior tom. With another glance at the tabby she-cat, she demanded, "What is going on?"

Jay sat and shuffled her paws nervously. "I'd love to join Thunderclan, if you'll have me." Her voice was strong and didn't crack like it might have had she not been trying hard to maintain it. Her tail curled around her paws, it's striking tones accenting her pelt. She calmly met the eyes of the leader, her jay-blue eyes nervous but determined. "I know how to fight and hunt, my mother knew alot from the clans and trained me very well." She stood, absent mindely curling her tail downward. It waved with it's quivering owner who could hardly manage her excitement.

Dawnsghost looked up at his leader and nodded respectfully in greeting. 'This is Jay, and as she said, she would like a place in Thunderclan. We found her out that way,' he flicked his tail in the appropriate direction, 'But she seemed to be heading the right way to camp. We took a chance and brought her in as she didn't seem like she was going to do us any harm.'

[That was my computer's fault for momentarily freezing. But it is now fixed.]
Leafstar sat down to listen to the story, her tabby tail curled over her white paws neatly. So far, she liked Jay. She had no problem with her personality, as it seemed to fit ThunderClan; plus, she seemed determined. She knew that the she-cat was nervous; who wouldn't be? But she held her ground, and that impressed Leafstar.
After listening to both Jay and Dawnsghost, she sat silently for a few heart-beats, looking out at the trees that surrounded the ThunderClan camp. Everything was suddenly quiet, and time seemed to slow down. As leader, this was completely her decision. Knowing that, she thought hard about her choice.
Looking back at the loner she-cat, Leafstar began to speak with authority and confidence. "Would you give your last breath to defend ThunderClan?" This would determine everything, although she suspected what the answer would be.

Jay thought for a moment. "I would. I would forever serve all of Thunderclan with a kind and loyal heart and defend it with a fierce and brave one, Leafstar. You would not regret anything." The truth shone in her eyes, her words were no lie. She was still looking the leader straight in the eye. She bowed her head for moment, she knew this was what she should do. "I was born a rogue and I will die a proud Thunderclan cat."

Exactly as Leafstar expected. She almost smiled, except for the fact that this was a serious moment. She waved her tail and stood, walking away. But she headed for the ledge where she gave her announcements. She gracefully leaped on it and approached the edge, her head held high. She looked down at the patrol she had just been speaking with, and waved them over with tail. "All cats old enough to catch their own prey, gather beneath the Thunder Ledge," her voice called out. Then she sat to wait for her clan to come out.

Following Leafstar over to Highledge, he seated himself and looked up at his leader as she waited to bring another cat into the Clan.

Jay followed as well, making her way to a spot closest to the rock. She looked at Leafstar eagerly, like an apprentice about to become a warrior. Her tail-tip fluttered with excitement, her eyes shone with joy. How could she believe that she was about to be a clan cat? Thunderclan would always be her home now, surely as the leaves change in leaf-fall and it's cold in leaf-bare; as surely as seasons changed.

Dreamstep padded back to camp with Dawnsghost, Dragonpaw, and Jay. She figured that Leafstar would let Jay into the Clan. Reaching camp, Dawnsghost called for Leafstar. The blue-gray she-cat let him explain. After Dawnsghost explained everything to Leafstar, she went to Thunder Ledge and called the Clan for a meeting. Dreamstep followed her and sat down next to Dawnsghost.

Dragonpaw quietly listened as his mother confronted the patrol and spoke with Jay. He was very eager to see the results. But after Jay's amazing response, all Leafstar had to do was give her a warrior name. He padded over to the ledge and sat close to his mentor.
Gray ears flicked as Leafstar called for a clan meeting. Smokekit raised his head and looked out the Nursery's entrance, but could not see anyone from where he was standing. He yawned and rose to his paws. He was already annoyed with the Nursery- he had been here long enough. He was just about six moons now, so he hoped Leafstar would hurry and make him and his sister apprentices soon. He brushed his tail against Blizzardkit to awake her before strolling out of the Nursery. His paws carried him over to the Thunder Ledge, were he sat next to his friend Dragonpaw. He greeted the dark tabby by twitching his whiskers and sat down. Seeing as how there were pieces of moss still stuck to his pelt, he began to groom his smokey fur with a scratchy tongue, getting all the moss and dust out.

Sunspirit was just finishing off the remains of a chipmunk that she was eating when Dawnsghost, Dreamstep, Dragonpaw, and a stranger walked into camp to talk to Leafstar. At the sight of the newcomer, she swiftly finished her meal, watching the blue-gray tabby for any signs of a possible attack. She kept her distance however, as the business looked serious and she wasn't a senior warrior.
When her leader called for a meeting, she bounded over to the Thunder Ledge, curious to find out what was happening. She sat next to Dreamstep and meowed conversationally, "Hello. Hope it's nothing serious."
